About Paul E Williams & Welcome Post

Welcome to my blog page where I will post articles on my photo art work and talk about my life in photography, which dates back over 50 years now.

A little about myself. My whole life has revolved around a camera and I have been lucky enough to have had a long and successful career as a photographer working at the highest levels of photography from my studio in Kensington. then in Camden London. I worked with the very best creatives from the advertising, design and editorial world which has given me great insights into how commercial photography works. I won many awards and had a great time and I will talk about these memories in this blog.

10 years ago I realised that I had seen less light than a coal miner for most of my career so I decided to give up the studio and follow a new life in photography. I kitted out a Defender to the highest expedition specs and headed off into the blue yonder. Well I headed off to see the great sights of Europe, North Africa and the Near East. To date I have travelled as far south as the Sahara and as far east as Georgia. I have experienced nearly driving into a mine field in Africa, being shot at in Turkey and getting very stuck in the Sahara. The things you do to get a photo!!

One of the first things I learnt was to research well before trips. In the process of doing this I started to visit archaeological museums and it was really love at first sight. I now have very big collections of antiquity photos which I will also talk about on this site.

Much of my current work revolves around photography as art and exploring the boundaries of photo art and this will be covered in this blog as its a fascinating subject.

The only photo I will post on this welcome page was taken by my uncle, Peter Williams, many years ago. I use it as my logo because I hate being photographed. I am the one on the left the other is my brother John. Can you believe my home town Buckingham with no parked cars and no yellow lines!!! Hope you enjoy my bog, Paul.
